Every year, a huge blowout party takes place in the West Edmonton mall water park, complete with DJs, beer gardens, hot temperatures, bathing suits, bikinis, and of course lots of dancing and nonsense in the wave pool. This year, the event organizers decided that it would be awesome to have some surfers in the pool, shredding the 3 foot chlorine waves to add to the beach ambiance.

The only issue was locating surfers in landlocked Alberta, so Beach Travellers was put in charge of this task. Our Alberta manager summoned Beach Travellers surf coaches from Vancouver to Montreal, who gladly packed their surfboard bags and jumped on the next flight to Edmonton for the chance to surf in a wave pool in front of 1500 partiers

The event was a huge success. The music was amazing, the wave pool surfing was unreal, and dancing in board shorts in cold Edmonton was pretty trippy.. But the best part of the event was the Beach Travellers reunion that went down that night. We all got to hang out and laugh our heads off with past BT travellers and fellow guides alike. Beach Travellers is one big happy family that is constantly growing, but the sad truth is that we all don't get to see each other as much as we would like. Everyone is spread out across the globe, so when the stars align and we can all get together to surf, laugh, and love, even for just one night ...it's pure magic.
