best jobs in costa rica & thailand

We're very pleased to introduce the newest additions to our team of guides. We always like to mix things up, so these kids are from all over the place, are all unique and bring their own piece of flare to the party, but they've all got a few things in common: they rock, they're some of the nicest people you'll ever meet, they know the countries they're guiding inside and out, and they will show every traveller the best trip imaginable. So here they are:

surf guide in costa rica

Fred Laurence, Surf Camp in Costa Rica Guide.

Fred knows where to pick mangoes, spot monkeys, find waterfalls, score good waves, and just a straight up really nice dude. One word of advice: don't play against him in poker. Or golf.

costa rica adventure guide

Sean Sutherland, Surf Camp in Costa Rica Guide.

Can do a backflip on a wakeboard, play the bagpipes like a pro, and teach you how to surf all in one day. In Costa Rica, he'll remind you that one important activity to never forget is: "straight chillin. All day, errr-day"

bali snorkeling guide

Maggie Verity, Adventure Tours in Thailand Guide.

You can't tell by looking at her, but Maggie is actually part fish, which is very suiting for a Bali guide considering the amount of water activities we do there. She'll really make you laugh on land also.

brazil fishing guide

Pat Vespa, Voyage Bresil Guide Brazil.

A curly-haired legend. He's an engineer, has travelled all over the world, and has stories to tell. He'll show you where to find the best fried-cheese in Rio, how to dance baile-funk, and he can even build a robot.

thailand beach traveller guide

Carter Buan, Adventure Tours in Thailand Guide.

This guy is legit; plays guitar and sings with the best of the 'em, is obsessed with Thai-food, and creates a contagious atmosphere to get the good times flowin'. He's the guy that could end up being a Mahut and is the closest person to Mogley from 'The Jungle Book' that you'll ever meet.

thailand boat & market guide

Stephanie Schmidt, Adventure Tours in Thailand Guide.

She works her buns off at everything she does by not only being a 'I think I can' type person but a 'let's kill it' type. She braves the elements and is always up for an adventure. She is always committed to making dreams come true, hers and everyone elses.

thailand sunset night guide

Alex Martin, Adventure Tours in Thailand Guide.

The front man of our new Northern Thailand expeditions, Alex has lived in Thailand for years, speaks the language fluently, and will teach you a butt-load of interesting stuff about the Thai culture and their rich history.

So there they are, the newest animals to join the herd. Hopefully you'll have the chance to meet them in their elements, whether it's hiking through jungles, eating Pad Thai on the streets of Bangkok, hang-gliding over Rio, or inventing dance moves at the Full Moon Party.

We all know that feeling, the heart starts pumping, a rush of blood to the head, excitement taking over the body. It's a feeling that only comes when you know you're about to do something out of this world. BT trips are filled with these encounters, and here are our Top 5 in Thailand:

snorkelling tour thailand

1. - Snorkelling & Scuba Diving - This is something that everyone should experience. When you submerge under water that is sky blue and crystal clear and your eyes hit the marine life under the surface, it's just ridiculous. With colours that don't even look real and fish you never even knew existed, it's for sure going to blow your mind!

cliff jumping tour thailand

2. - Cliff Jumping - A definite heart stopper. After scaling the limestone cliffs and reaching that ledge where you're about to plummet into the ocean, you may hesitate a moment.. don't think about it, just jump!

elephant washing tour in thailand

3. - Elephant Washing - This is a day that will change your life. To sit bare-back on these incredible animals that are so giant and gentle, playing with them and seeing that the elephants are having as much fun as we are, it's pretty magical. Every time we go I hear people saying that was one of the best days of their lives.

rock climbing tour in thailand

4. - Rock Climbing - While gearing up with the climbing shoes and harnesses you feel like you're about to conquer the world. Then you start scaling the rocks and acting like a spider. Once you arrive at the top and look behind you and see that view of East Railay, it's just amazing. Can't say any more.. you'll just have to try for yourself.

tuk tuk tour in thailand

5. - Bangkok Tuk-Tuk Ride - A true Bangkok experience. For those of you who don't know what a tuk-tuk is, it's a three-wheeler painted with bright colours and decked out in bright lights, and the drivers are known to be fearless. Adrenaline flies through your body as you're whipping past all the Bangkok craziness at top speeds. Don't worry, the guys behind the wheel are skilled tuk-tuk wizards.

summer sun adventure in thailand

After a solid rush of adrenaline, there's nothing like some straight chillin' on the beach to bring your heart rate back down and soak it all in. We don't wanna brag, but after 6 yrs of running these trips, we know how it's done!

beach walk costa rica

My tiny rental car is making worrying sounds as I twist up and down these tiny dirt roads in the Costa Rican countryside. I am hours late for my rendez-vous with Mitch and my new guiding partner Sean, the sun has long since set, and my GPS system keeps telling me to take sharp left turns into the jungle. Yet still I cant help but smile as I drive what seems to be an endless unlit dirt road towards the coast.

beach fire costa rica

As I glanced down at my watch, I realized that my graduating classmates had just completed their convocation ceremony, and were most likely already well into a night of excessive drinking and emotional outbursts. Much to the chagrin of my family and friends I opted out of my university graduation in order to make it to Costa Rica in time for the first trip of the season.

beach view in costa rica

After guiding for 3 months in Brazil and 1 month in Costa Rica last year, I felt excited to come back to this, tiny, wave abundant country. It's hard to capture the essence of any culture or country in a word or phrase, and while the term "Pura Vida"may to some seem played out or cliche, it's hard to ignore how appropriate it is in describing the Costa Rican lifestyle. Life here just seems simpler, clothing and shoes is scorned for boardies and bikinis, pasty whiteness easily exchanged for sun kissed tans, and where lunch is often a short climb away up a nearby mango tree.

pool party in costa rica

It's been an amazing opportunity for me as a BT Brazil guide, to be able to come and guide and coach surf camps here in Costa Rica. I am constantly amazed at the natural beauty of this place, and am so looking forward to sharing this country and a few waves with our travellers this summer.
